Engine Bench

Pick an engine, then drive it. Hold the accelerator and brake, shift gears, change the road and the load, and watch what happens inside the engine, at the wheels, and in your fuel bill.

Fuel prices, Bengaluru (edit to your city)
Petrol, diesel and CNG are Bengaluru retail prices on 5 Oct 2026. Electricity is an assumed home-charging tariff; public DC fast chargers typically cost two to three times more. Petrol is modelled as E20, the 20%-ethanol blend sold at Indian pumps, which carries about 7% less energy per litre than pure petrol.

Bench test: every engine and gearbox, same tests

waiting to run
Every engine runs the same simulated tests: flat-road sprints with the driver alone, a climb on an 8% ghat with five people and AC on, and 90 seconds at a steady speed after settling. These come out of this page's physics model, so they show how the engines rank against each other more reliably than they predict exact figures. Steady-speed economy beats real-world mixed driving by a wide margin because there is no idling, braking or traffic. Strong-hybrid figures account for any change in battery charge. Best in each column is highlighted; in the economy columns the cheapest fuel-burning engine is highlighted too, since the EV wins those outright.

All engines side by side

km / year
Real-world economy figures are typical mixed-use estimates for the representative car, not ARAI/MIDC claims, and they move a lot with driving style, traffic and AC use. Costs use the fuel prices above. The simulator itself is a simplified physics model (published power and torque, estimated weight, gearing and losses), good for seeing how each engine behaves, not for exact lap times.
